Abstract
476,287. Electric hand-irons. COLLINS, J. H., BEECH, E. E., and WALL, Ltd., H. June 19, 1937, No. 17102. [Class 138 (ii)] In an electric iron having steaming means, the steam collecting chamber 13 is formed within the upper part of the water chamber 11 and communicates therewith by apertures 14. A conduit extends from the top of the steam collecting chamber to a second steam chamber adjacent the sole plate. Apertured baffles 17, 22 are provided in the steam chambers. The chamber 16 communicates with a space 21 in an apertured plug 19 housed in a recess in the sole plate. The water chamber is provided with a filling aperture having a screw plug 25 provided with a safety valve 29. Packing rings 31, 24 are provided around the filling plug and beneath the steam chamber 16. The handle 3, water chamber and sole plate are held together by bolts 5 passing through tubes 6 formed in the water chamber.
