463,180. Hand-irons. COOPER, H. P. Oct. 12, 1936, No. 27613. Convention date, Oct. 14, 1935. [Class 138 (ii)] Steam is admitted from a pipe 21 into the upper compartment 17 of the recessed base of an iron wherein it becomes superheated and is discharged into the lower distributing compartment 17a through apertures 28 in lugs 27 formed on the central partition 22 and reaching almost to the top of the compartment 17. The superheated steam passes on to the work from the compartment 17a through orifices 34 formed in lugs 33 and in the sole plate 30.
