Abstract

428,154. Hand-irons. JABET, A. E., Trevordon, Hazelwood Road, Acocks Green, and GILBERT, N. W., 513, Warwick Road, Solihull, both in Birmingham. March 19, 1934, No. 8532. [Class 138 (ii)] The lateral edges of the sole plate a of a smoothing-iron are formed with grooves a<1> which extend the whole length of the edges, or substantially so, and merge into one another at the nose of the iron whereby buttons on articles being pressed ride into the grooves and permit of the ironing of the portions of the article beneath the buttons. The lower edge of each groove is bevelled to form a guide for the buttons.
