Abstract

476,003. Elastic-fluid turbines. SHEVLIN, J. T. (Siemens-Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges.) Feb. 17, 1937, No. 4809. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 18, 1937.] [Class 110 (iii)] A single casing steam turbine comprising a high pressure stage, a radial-flow medium pressure stage and a low pressure stage, and means for tapping working fluid between the medium and low pressure stages, has a radial labyrinth joint, which seals the medium from the low pressure stage, located within the radial limits of the blading of the medium pressure stage. The rotor 1 of the turbine has a high pressure stage 3, two sections of radial flow medium pressure blading 4, 5, and a low pressure stage 9. Steam is tapped between the stages 5 and 9 which are sealed from each other by a labyrinth joint 10. The casing is built up of three parts 12, 13, 14 bolted together.
