Abstract
475,176. Conditioning air. ZAMENHOF, S. Feb. 6, 1936, No. 3667. Void. Convention date, March 4, 1935. [Class 137] [Also in Group XIII] Air is dried by contact in a chamber A with an aqueous solution of a salt such as the chloride, bromide, or iodide of the alkaline earth metals, and is simultaneously cooled, the solution being circulated through a container C in which is an attemperating coil D, and which is supplied with some of the solid salt to maintain the concentration of the solution. The air may then be passed through an evaporator B in which it is sprayed with water and thereby further cooled. Salts suitable for use are chlorides of lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, or zinc, and concentrated sea water may be used. The parts A and C of the apparatus may be separated from the part B, and connected thereto by air pipes. Similarly, the part C may be at a distance from the parts A and B, and connected by pipes carrying the solution, which pipes may act as a refrigerator, the cooler B then being unnecessary. The passage of the air may be controlled electrically by a device of the hydrometer type in the solution.
