474,942. Oven door-operating mechanism. OTTO & CO., GES., DR. C. Nov. 27, 1936, No. 32527. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1935. [Class 65 (i)] In a door-lifting carriage for horizontal coke-ovens, movable on rails 3 along the face of the oven battery and comprising a frame 4 which is movable along the longitudinal direction of the oven, the door gripper 18 is mounted on a vertical shaft 15 rotatable in bearings on extensions 12 of the frame 4, so that the door can be swung about the shaft after withdrawal from the oven. The frame 4 is rigid with a trolley 5 which is moved along rails on the main carriage by a pinion 11 engaging rack teeth on the trolley 5. The door gripper 18 is operated to lift the door by means of a rod 21 having an internally-threaded end engaging a screw shaft 22 which is driven through bevel gearing by a hand-wheel; the lower part of the door is engaged by a hand-operated plunger 29 carried by the shaft 15. The shaft 15 is rotated by a gear sector 30 engaged by a worm which is hand-driven through bevel gearing.
