Abstract
474,710. Oscillographs. MULLER AKT.- GES., C. H. F. Dec. 21, 1936, No. 35122. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1935. [Class 37] A measuring device comprises a cathoderay tube on the anode voltage of which the voltage to be measured is superimposed, while a strong and constant magnetic field and an electric field simultaneously deflect the cathode-ray beam, the field strength of the electric field being directly proportional to the total anode voltage and the direction of the constant part of the deflecting force of the electric field being opposite to that of the magnetic field. The voltage to be measured is applied to the anode of the cathode-ray tube 1, through the transformer 9, and the beam is deflected downwardly by the constant field of a horseshoe or electro-magnet 7. In addition, the beam is given a second upward deflection by applying to the tube an electric field which is obtained from a tipping 8 and is proportional to the total anode voltage, so that the deflection produced by the electric field is constant throughout but that by the magnetic field varies according to the value of the voltage to be measured. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of an electric field as described above, but of strength proportional only to the voltage to be measured. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
