Abstract
473,274. Electric signalling systems. SZELL, L. G. March 5, 1936, No. 6711. [Class 40 (i)] In a system for repeating variable quantities at a distance, the variable quantity is adapted to adjust the supply brushes 5, 6 of a resistance 1 which is tapped by line wires 7 leading to a similar resistance 8 at the receiver having adjustable brushes 9, 10 which are directly driven by a motor 14 until the brushes are positioned at equipotential points. The position of the brushes 9, 10 is therefore representative of the position of the brushes 5, 6 and the variable quantity. The system may be supplied from an A.C. source and an induction motor used for driving the receiver brushes. In a modification, the transmitting resistance is supplied over fixed tappings, and the line wires are connected to adjustable brushes, similar arrangements being provided at the receiver. Faults in the system may be indicated by instruments connected in the line wires or by a voltmeter adapted to measure the potential of the leads 13 with respect to earth. The receiver may be automatically reset to zero position in the event of a fault.
