Abstract
473,165. Making glass plates. VOSCH, J. M. J. C. Oct. 27, 1936, No. 29189. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1935. [Class 56] [Also in Group X] Corrugated sheets of glass for roofing or other purposes are formed with opposed recesses in their two surfaces so that the film of glass between them may easily be broken through to give passage to the screws or other fixing means. As shown the sheet-like stream of glass passing from the furnace between corrugating plates 1, 2 and rollers 3, 4 is partly pierced by punches 5 mounted on the rollers so as to become radially aligned at the nip. The punches may be removably mounted to vary the shape &c. of the recesses. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 the sheet stream after leaving the rollers is received between similarly corrugated metal plates arranged in a stack. At intervals the stack is moved downwardly to shear a sheet at 8, and the bottom sheet of glass with its supporting metal plate is conveyed away by rollers. A metal reinforcement may be introduced into the glass sheet before its exit from the furnace, the metal strip being fed downwardly through corrugating rollers. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
