Compound or composite slabs. -A machine for punching holes from each side of a metal sheet to produce rough-edged projections 2 on each side, comprises a pair of rollers 4 each fitted with radially-projecting spikes 7 mounted between selected rings of a series of removable rings or sleeves 5. The spikes of each roller enter the vacant spaces between the sleeves of the opposing roller, perforating the metal sheet 1 as shown. The sleeves may be keyed on the rollers, as shown at 8, or may be made in sections to facilitate removal. The perforated sheet is sandwiched between non-metallic sheets of other materials such as asbestos or bitumen to form a building slab.
