Abstract

17,391. Clark, N. E. July 26. Expanded metal for lathing consists of parallel strips 1, 2, 9 and zigzag strands 5, 6 connected at intervals as shown at 7, 8. The strips are arranged to lie in the plane of the fabric, and some of them are made wider and corrugated as shown at 1, 2 to act as strengthening-pieces. The zigzag strands are oppositely inclined as shown in Fig. 1, and the beams 1, 2 are perforated at 10, 11, 12 to form keys for the plaster. Some of the perforations are arranged in line to receive strengthening-rods 13, Fig. 3. The punched-out tongues 14 may be employed to connect other sheets 15 of lathing as shown in Fig. 3. The sheets may be secured back to back for forming double thickness walls. In a modification, rolled sections may be employed.
