Abstract

738,967. Ceiling coverings. GARTENMANN & CIE SOC. ANON., C. Dec. 30, 1953 [Jan. 21 1953], No. 36113/53. Class 20 (4). In a suspended ceiling comprising panels 1, Fig. 12, joined together by tongues 2 and grooves 3, and mounted by suspension means 5 having a web 6 engaged in the joints of the panels and flanges 4 projecting towards opposite sides of the web 6, the suspension means 5 passes through the meeting point P, Fig. 1, of four panels 1 or through two or more such meeting points P. As shown, the suspension means 5 is formed from a metal strip partially slitted so that the flanges 4 are bent at right angles to the web 6 alternately on opposite sides thereof. Wires 9 passing through holes 7 in the web 6 anchor the suspension means to a rough ceiling 8. In a modification, Fig. 11, the web 6 is formed by folding a metal strip longitudinally. The flanges 4 may have cutout portions between them and the panels 1 may be of rhombic shape. Each panel 1 may have two grooved and two tongued edges, each tongue 2 being slightly thinner than the groove 3 and a slot 3a being made adjacent the tongue 2 to accommodate the flanges 4.
