Abstract

1,078,081. Suspended ceiling grid; connecnections for beams. DONN PRODUCTS, Inc. Jan. 22, 1965 [Dec. 7, 1964], No. 2980/65. Headings E1K and E1W. In a beam structure, which in the exemplified embodiment forms part of a suspended ceiling, each transverse beam 2 has a web 3 which at at least one end is provided with a tongue 12 having a portion 14 bent out of the plane of the web 3, a marginal edge portion of the tongue portion 14 being overlapped by a hook like portion 29 projecting from one side of the web 19 of a main beam 18. A detent on the web 19 engages an indentation 37 in the tongue portion 14. The beams 2, 18 have bilaterally extending flanges 6, 23, the end of the flange 6 being joggled to engage the flange 23 so that the bottom surfaces of the flanges are coplanar. Projections 29 are formed at slightly relatively displaced positions on opposite sides of the web 19 and such opposed pairs of projections are provided at intervals along the web 19. The tongue portions 14 at opposite ends of the beams 2 are bent out of the plane of the web 3 to point in opposite directions.
