Abstract

460,067. Utilizing waste tyre covers ; mats &c. GASKING, J. L. Jan. 14, 1936, No. 1235. [Class 70] [Also in Group IX] Mats, floor coverings, or the like are made from waste tyre covers by removing the beads from the tyre covers, cutting the remaining part circumferentially to produce a strip or a number of rings 4 which are cut into strips, assembling the strips side by side to form a sheet 6 and uniting them together by vulcanizing. The strips may be cut parallel to their upper and lower surfaces to produce a number of thinner strips. The sheets 6 may also be cut parallel to their upper and lower surfaces to produce a number of thinner sheets 7. Holes may be punched in the sheets to facilitate drainage or collection of dirt. Corrugations may be formed in either or both surfaces to facilitate drainage or improve their non-slipping properties.
