Abstract

<PICT:0472869/III/1> <PICT:0472869/III/2> In a mirror-script duplicating-machine, the sheets are damped by means of a roller 235, Fig. 7, running in contact with a felt block 262 in a receptacle 251 which is supplied with an adjustable volume of liquid by means of a pump 277, Fig. 20. The receptacle is suspended from a supply-pipe 254 and is pressed by springs 258. The block 262 abuts on another block 261 and is engaged by a pressure-bar 264 which is adjustable to control the flow. The roller 235 is geared to the drum 54 of the machine. The pump is arranged in a tank 271 and is connected by pipes 282, 255 to the pipe 254, the pipe 282 being provided with an overflow chamber 283. The piston 275 of the pump works in a cylinder 274 provided with a ball-valve 280, and formed with apertures 279. The piston is operated by a spring 277 and is raised by means of a bell-crank 286, 288 co-operating with a cam 69 on the drum-shaft 53 of the machine. The volume delivered at each stroke is adjusted by means p of an eccentric strap 293 co-operating with an extension of the arm 286. The eccentric is secured to a shaft 291 provided with a knob which can be pulled outwards and turned to adjust the eccentric, a pin on the knob co-operating with one of a number of apertures 296 to retain the parts in adjusted position. To change the blocks 261, 262 after the machine has been standing, the pump is operated manually by means of a slide 298 having a roller 302 engaging the arm 288.
