[Class 102(i)] [Also in Group XVI] In sheet-feeding apparatus (see Group XVI) wherein a file table 15 (not shown) for sheets is raised intermittently by the operation of a hydraulic ram 33 in a cylinder 31 supplied with oil under pressure by a continuously - o p - erated reciprocating-pump, the pump 81 and valves therefor are in a housing 60 supported inside an oil supply tank 50 by a depending flange on the tank cover 51. The oil from the tank enters the pump chamber 70 through a port 63 and non-return valve 96, and is supplied to the cylinder 31 through a non-return valve 93, an outlet 166, and pipe 58 which leads to a pipe 56 connected to the cover 51. Oil from the port 63 enters a bore in which is a valve 65 controlled automatically from the pile table 15 through a solenoid 106. When the valve 65 is lowered, oil cannot enter the pump chamber; the lowering of this valve is retarded by a damping device comprising a small leak 136 and a non-return valve 139. A relief valve 102 is arranged in the pump chamber 70, and a further valve 169 in a bore 165 can be lowered to permit the delivery from pump to byepass through an outlet 167 to the tank 50. When this valve 169 is lowered, oil from the cylinder 31 can also return to the tank through the pipes 56, 58 and outlet 167. The valve 169 is shown as hand-operated by a lever 143 and rod-andcrank means, but it could be operated through a solenoid when a switch is handoperated. The plunger pump 81 is reciprocated by a rod 91 connected to a crank which is supported on a flange inside the tank, this crank passing through the side of the tank where it has secured thereon a pulley 87 connected by a belt to a continuously-rotating motor 83.
