Abstract

472,501. Wheel tyres. GRAY, B. P. March 30, 1936, Nos. 9309 and 18717. [Class 144 (ii)] Non-skid tread-plates of the kind described in Specifications 443,427, 457,464, 457,533, and 465,784 are now constructed so as to permit relative movement of the ground-engaging portions 11. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the base 14 of the plate is formed of relatively thin resilient metal or other material. The end portions may be separately formed and welded &c. to the base. Or, as shown in Fig. 4, they may be secured by lugs 16 on the base. Figs. 7 and 8 show further modifications in which the base 14, not necessarily of a resilient nature, is provided with weakened portions 20, 19 respectively across which the plate is severed before or during use. Specification 469,727 also is referred to.
