Abstract

471,872. Addressing-machines. SHERMAN, J. Q., and STANDARD REGISTER CO. March 11, 1936, No. 10430/37. Divided out of 471,868. [Class 100 (ii)] In an addressing or like series-printing machine, a listing strip is fed intermittently past the printing position by means of intermittently rotated wheels provided with pins for engaging holes formed in one or both margins of the strip at intervals substantially less than the feed-movement. In the addressing-machine shown in the Figure, a multiple strip 21 is fed over a table 1 by means of a feed-roller 20 comprising wheels 26, 29 provided with pins for engaging marginal holes 24 in the strip. The pins may be rigid or, as described in Specification 408,125, may be automatically projected and retracted. The feed-roller may be operated by the means described in Specification 471,868 and comprising ratchet-mechanism 61 operated by a rack 63 in connection with a rockshaft, provision being made for mounting the feed-roller at the front or side of the machine so that the strip can be fed forwardly or laterally.
