[Class 37] In a variable resistance having a circular track over which slides a contact arm driven by a rotary spindle, the contact arm or the member carrying the contact arm is welded to the spindle, preferably by electric spot welding. The Figure shows the actuating spindle c welded to a metal plate d having stops for limiting rotation of the spindle, the contact arm f with a contact g to engage the resistance track (not shown) and a further contact arm h with a contact i for engaging a contact track being secured to an insulating plate e fixed to the plate d. The contact arm or the member carrying it may be welded flat against the end of the spindle c or a collar like member may be provided on the contact or carrying member to be used for welding.
