Abstract
173,293. Crompton & Co., Ltd., and Jones, W. F. Sept. 22, 1920. Regulating-switches. - Plate grid resistances constructed as described in Specifications 173,291 and 173,292, [both in Class 37, Electricity, Measuring &c.], are so shaped and mounted for rotation on a spindle as to constitute the movable members of regulating switches. Fig. 1 shows a resistance constructed as described in Specification 173,291, [Class 37, Electricity, Measuring &c.], formed with a central bearing and fitted with drum contacts W secured bv rivets X with insulating bushes Y. Fig. 5 shows a resistance constructed as described in Specification 173,292, [Class 37, Electricity, Measuring &c.], formed with a central bearing and fitted with blade contacts BB. The bearing may be constituted by a sleeve DD, Fig. 7, the plates B, C of the grid being clamped between a flange on the sleeve and a nut EE. The resistance wires are soldered or otherwise secured to the contacts W or BB. The rivets X may be dispensed with by corrugating the engaging parts of the contacts and of the insulated plates B, C.
