[Class 98 (ii)] In the preparation of a series of photographs for use in the reproduction of solid objects, for example by the method described in Specification 254,791, [Class 98 (ii)], a wide-angle lens is used in the camera whereby illuminated outlines of the subject may be photographed more or less sharply in focus. Preferably the optical axes of the camera and projector are at right-angles. As shown, the projector 2, which forms an illuminated line 4, 5, 6, on the object 3, is arranged with its axis in the same horizontal plane, and at right angles to the optical axis of the wideangle lens 7 of the camera. Screens 10 may be provided to shield the lens 7 from unwanted light. The axes of the camera and projector may also be inclined at an angle other than a right-angle.
