Abstract
470,685. Condensers. SPORING, P. A., and TELEGRAPH CONDENSER CO., Ltd. Jan. 12, 1937, No. 936. [Class 37] After application of a clamp to a pack of alternate dielectric and metal sheets in a condenser, to attain the desired final pressure, the capacity is adjusted by removal of a portion of one or more of the active metal sheets. In the example, the metal sheets comprise films deposited on the mica dielectric and the pack is clamped by a plate in such a manner that one metal surface 4 lies immediately under the central part 1 of the clamping plate. Through an aperture 9 therein, the whole or a portion of the metal surface thus exposed can be scraped away to adjust the capacity. Alternatively, an aperture may be made in the bent-over ends of the clamping plate and in an underlying pressure plate so as to allow of access to the exposed active metal film or sheet, or the removal of the metal may be effected through the gap left between the bent-over ends.
