Abstract

470,337. Feeding cigarettes &c. CHALMERS, J. W., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Feb. 6, 1936, No. 3681. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] Relates to apparatus for feeding cigarettes and similarly shaped articles wherein the articles descend between guide members on to a supporting bed the lowermost article or articles being removed by a pusher member carried by an endless conveyer, and comprises. means which, whilst the pusher is in action, supports the articles above those being removed and then lowers them on to the bed in preparation for the next stroke of the pusher. As shown, cigarettes descend between partitions 7, on to a bed 8 and a pusher 9 carried by an endless chain 22 removes the lowermost layer, the pusher being slotted to clear the partitions. As the pusher advances, it passes over a suitably slotted plate 11. Fig. 3. which then rises, Fig. 5, to support the remaining cigarettes, being subsequently lowered for the next removal. The movements of the plate 11 are effected by cams 17, 23, rotating in synchronism with the conveyer, the rear end of the member 11 being pivoted to a rocking arm 14. The cam 17 rocks the arm 14 to move the member 11 in the direction of the pusher, the cam 23 acting through a slotted pivoted arm 25 to lift the member at the appropriate moment. Specifications, 10058/10 and 216,326, [both in Class 94 (i)], are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 216,326.
