Abstract
470,120. Optical projection apparatus. CUSSONS, Ltd., G., and CUSSONS, G. W. April 15, 1936, No. 10803. [Class 97 (i)] An optical projection apparatus wherein the surface of the object, the image of which is to be projected, is illuminated by light projected on to and focused upon it, comprises a source of light, and a compound lens or condenser in which a central portion is made ineffective by placing thereon or therein another lens or lenses through which the image of the illuminated surface of the object is projected in a direction opposite to the illuminating rays, images being projected or reflected by any known means on to a screen. In Fig. 1, light from the source 5 passes through the condenser 6 and water or other cooling means 7 and is reflected from the mirror 8 through the condenser 9 on to the object on the transparent table 15, adjustable in height to focus the light on the object. The projection system 11 is carried in a tube in a hole in the centre of the condenser 9 and the projected rays pass through a tube in the centre of the mirror 8 on to a screen 13. A prism may be interposed to reflect the rays horizontally through holes in the mirror 8 and in the end wall of the casing. Alternatively the prism 22 and the projection lens 11 may both be mounted on the condenser 9, Fig. 4.
