Abstract
469,965. Card indexes. RILEY, C. G. Feb. 12, 1936, No. 4208. [Class 146 (i)] A vertical card index has inserted between each of the index cards a sheet of paper or similar material b more flexible than the cards and provided with a tongue a projecting above the upper edges thereof, so that by pressing backwardly on the tongue and then drawing it forwardly the sheet is caused to form a space between the adjacent cards to facilitate their inspection. The tongues a are preferably situated near the right-hand side of the sheets, and the sheets may be of less width than the cards so as to permit of some tongues being out of alignment with regard to the remainder. A folded-back part j integral with the main sheet may be provided for recording matter thereon. The upper edge of each tongue may be folded back on itself and secured by adhesive as shown at c so as to make it more durable. Each separating member may be formed by extending the tongue towards the bottom of the cards and providing it with a base sufficiently wide to support it in an upright position.
