Abstract
<PICT:0469771/III/1> <PICT:0469771/III/2> <PICT:0469771/III/3> In a crystallizer consisting, for example, of two banks of cooling or heating coils 12, 13 of opposite hand mounted on a revolving shaft arranged within a stationary container, the liquid being fed from the shaft to the coils and returned to the shaft by connecting pipes 14, 16, and 15, 17 respectively, the shaft is built up from standard rolled sections and plates assembled in a fluid-tight manner to form longitudinal channels for the supply and exhaust of liquid respectively. The sections and plates may be assembled together by welding. An H-section beam 2 has plates 3 welded to its flanges to form the channels 6, 7. In modifications of the invention, two channel sections 27, Fig. 5, facing one another are welded to a partition plate 24; and two oppositely disposed channel members 27, Fig. 6, are welded to a division plate 25 and closing plates 18. A trunnion is provided at each end of the shaft for the inlet and outlet respectively of the heating or cooling liquid.
