468,671. Pneumatic separating. TRIGGS, W. W. (Polysius Akt.-Ges., G.) Jan. 12, 1937, No. 961. [Class 117] In a pneumatic separator wherein the material falls on to a spreader plate surrounded by inner and outer casings between which the air returns after rising through the inner casing, the cross section of the separating space between these casings is not greater than half the saturation space between the spreader tube or spindle and the inner casing. In the form shown, the area of the saturation space III between the inner casing of diameter a and the spreader cylinder of diameter d is at least twice as great as the separating area II while if desired the area I between the spreader rim and the inner casing may be more than double the separating space.
