Abstract
500,919. Aerial bombs. AKT.-GES. HUNZIKER & CIE, ZURICH, BAUSTOFFABRIKEN BRUCG & OLTEN. March 23, 1938, Nos. 8954 and 8955. Convention dates, March 25, 1937 and Dec. 21,1937. [Class 9 (i)] An air bomb comprises a thick-walled concrete body 1, moulded by centrifugal action in combination with vibration, in which are embedded lumps of metal 2, the ends of the body being tapered and formed with screw threads to receive a fuze 5 and a tail-piece, with fins 6. A reinforcement consisting of a helical rod 7, Fig. 4, welded to longi. tudinal bars 8 may be provided for the body, the ends of the bars and rod being secured to screwed rings 9 to which À the fuze and tail-piece are coupled. A resilient insert 10 of rubber, felt, or cardboard, may be interposed between the fuze and the body to render the bomb more resistant to percussive action. -
