Abstract

578,202. Expressing liquids. SIZER, A. W. Feb. 10, 1944, Nos. 2447 and 3901. [Class 46] [Also in Group II] A cylinder or hollow polygonal body for a press for extracting liquids for example oil from seeds, is provided with radial recesses which extend part way through the thickness of the body, two or more smaller perforations extending from the base of the recesses through the remainder of the thickness. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the cylinder is provided with radial bores 10a leading back to three smaller bores 10b. The interior of the cylinder is formed with serrations 10c. The cylinder which may be made up of segments, is provided with lugs 12 secured in place by bars 11. The cylinder may be in two concentric parts, the inner part being perforated with smaller bores only, or as shown in Fig. 5, being formed also with the larger bores 20a. The inner part 20 may be displaceable slightly relatively to the outer part 10 providing discharge openings of lenticular form.
