468,201. Vehicle spring-suspensions. MARTINS, B. Feb. 12, 1937, No. 4210. [Class 108 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] In spring suspensions in which a spring or springs connecting the suspended or supporting members is adapted to roll upon a rolling surface to vary the effective resistance according to the load the rolling surface is arranged to encircle both the spring or springs and the suspended member such as the axle. As shown, a casing 1, disposed within a cup 8 secured to a flange 11. of the axle 7, has connected to its inner surface one end of a spring 3, the other end of which is secured to a crank 6 arranged on a pin 4 pivoted to the frame 5. As the load increases the axle 7 moves angularly with respect to the pin 4 causing the spring to unroll on the inner surface 2 of the casing 1. Shockabsorbers may be fitted together with stops for limiting the angular displacement.
