Abstract
467,854. Collapsable showcards. MAY, W. A. Jan. 24, 1936, No. 2343. [Class 3 (ii)] A collapsable showcard comprises a carton having two opposite sides connected together by an end part or parts having a hinge or fold at the middle, and foldable side pieces connecting the two sides and serving as stops limiting the inward movement of the end part or parts when the carton is erected by spring means. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the carton comprising members 1, 2 connected by side pieces 5, 6 is maintained in the display position by a spring 8 extending between the folds of end parts 3, 4. The members 5, 6 may be constituted by parts of an advertising wrapper extending around and secured to the members 1, 2. The sides 1, 2 may be very flexible so as to assume a curved formation when the carton is erected. With end parts of different sizes, a trapezoidal carton may be formed. In another embodiment, Fig. 5, the carton comprises sides 10, 11 connected together at one end and at the other to a member 12, their lateral edges being connected to members 13, 14. The spring means may comprise a torsion spring arranged at a suitable fold of the carton and co-operating with two adjacent parts.
