Abstract

466,750. Figured fabrics. QUILT MANUFACTURERS, Ltd., TAYLOR, W. H., and TAYLOR, T. Nov. 29, 1935, No. 33083. [Class 142 (iv)] A heavy fabric of cotton, jute, &c. for floor coverings is figured on both faces by two jacquards operating on warp ends F (FW1 FR3, FW4, FR6, FW7, FR9, FW10, FR12) from a top beam whilst ends H (HR2, HW5, HR8, HW11) from a bottom beam are shed by healds. Alternate ends on each beam are of different colours, for example red R and white W, one jacquard controlling the red and the other the white ends. Two or more colours of heavy weft are used. Thus a red and white weft may be picked alternately. In picks 1 to 8, Fig. 3, corresponding to Fig. 5, a warp of one colour is shown figuring on one face and a warp of another colour on the other face, whilst in picks 9 to 20, Fig. 3, an interchange of colours is shown, the warp that figured on the top face for picks 1 to 8 now figuring on the bottom face and vice versa. At picks 1, 2, which are filling picks, the white figuring ends only are raised. At white pick 3, both jacquards are raised, that controlling the white ends having a tabby card so that half the white ends are raised, whilst the other jacquard raises all the red ends required to be on the top for that pick, e.g. none. For red pick 4, the jacquard controlling the red ends is provided with a tabby card. Picks 5 and 6 are repetitions of picks 1 and 2.
