466,698. Water-tube steam boilers. INTERNATIONAL COMBUSTION, Ltd. Nov. 26, 1936, No. 32406. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1935. [Class 123 (ii)] In water-tube boilers having an intermediate drum 4, connected with a lower drum 3 through uprisers, e.g. furnace wall screen tubes 2, and shortcircuit return tubes 7, and with a steam collecting drum 6 through tubes 5 connecting the upper parts of both drums 4, 6, the tubes 5 are so dimensioned as to provide a restricted passage such that at a predetermined load steam only is forced through the tubes. Feedwater is introduced at a level above the'intermediate drum. A few of the steam upriser tubes may open close to the top of the intermediate drum and others depend further ; the inlets to the tubes may have stoppers or chokes leaving only a small opening or may have a float valve closure controlling the height of the water level in the drum. The openings may be arranged at different levels so that the water level may fall evenly. To prevent overheating the valved tubes may have a small steam opening located close to the top of the drum.
