Abstract

466,564. Pipe joints; soldering. CORNELL, E. S. Nov. 27, 1935, No. 32930. [Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] Relates to sweat-joint connections for pipes and particularly to the jointing of pipes to non- ferrous pipe-fittings, especially integral wrought fittings of copper or alloys of predominantly copper content. A fitting 10 having a socket end 11 provided with a smooth continuous face of substantially uniform diameter and including a stop-flange or shoulder 10 is jointed to a pipe 13 having a substantially smooth continuous outer face of a diameter such that a clearance is provided between the two faces, by means of a ring 14 of fusible material, which is placed between the shoulder 101 and the end of the pipe 13, and is of such dimensions that when fused it fills the space between the telescoped parts. The ring 14 is of laterally wide and axially narrow rectangular cross-section and has internal and external diameters corresponding to those of the pipe 13.
