Abstract

Elastic material is prepared by causing a halogen derivative of glycerine such as monochlorhydrin, dichlorhydrin or epichlorhydrine to react upon a polysulphide of an alkli metal, an alkaline earth metal or ammonia, the reaction, if desired, being conducted in solution in water or methanol. In an example, dichlorhydrin (or monochlorhydrin, epichlorhydrin or bromhydrin) is reacted with a polysulphide solution obtained by dissolving sulphur in sodium sulphide.
