Abstract
465,505. Spray carburetters. FARMER, G. H. Nov. 6, 1935, No. 30693. [Class 7 (iii)] Fuel is supplied through a jet C<3> into an emulsifying chamber D, into which air drawn from the space between the walls of a mixing chamber B<1> and a choke tube B<3> and controlled by a tapered needle J, is admitted through a tapered tube F and holes E<2>, E<3> in a tube E. At wide throttle openings the air issues from the end of the tube F, but at smaller throttle openings some escapes through holes H and reduces the suction on the jet. The float chamber A may supply fuel to jets C<2>, C<3> leading to separate emulsifying chambers which discharge through tubes C, C<1> into mixing chambers B, B<1>. The needles J are operated by levers K<1>, K<2> from an altitude control formed by an exhausted or partly exhausted corrugated metal box J<1> ; as the altitude increases, more air is admitted to the tubes F to reduce the suction on the jets. To enable the richness of the mixture to be regulated independently of the altitude control, a lever L<4> is operated to adjust the fulcrum pin L<1> of the lever K<1> Specification 465,474 is referred to.
