Abstract

464,165. Plate heat - exchangers. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and LOBELLE, M. J. O. March 5, 1936, No. 6724. [Class 64 (iii)] A heat-exchange element, e.g. for the oil coolers or cooling-water radiators of aircraft engines, comprises corrugated sheet metal plates separated by perforate plates c of metal, such as that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Tungum," having a high heat conductivity and secured together by rivets. The perforations may be formed by pressing the metal of the plates to the forms shown in Figs. 3 and 6. The elements may be mounted on headers m, Fig. 8, provided with inserts o so that the oil flows in series through groups of elements from the inlet to the outlet. The individual elements may be connected in series by means of flanges formed on the inserts. Specifications 420,331 and 421,684 are referred to.
