464,093. Kinematograph apparatus. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 18, 1936, No. 34877. Convention date, Dec. 19, 1935. [Class 97 (i)] Means enabling a motor-driven apparatus to be driven by hand is coupled to the driving mechanism in such manner that it becomes automatically disengaged when the motor is in operation ; the disengagement may be effected by a centrifugal governor controlling the motor speed. As shown, a bush 4 fixed to the spindle 2 of a motor 1 carries weighted spring blades 6 which are also secured to a bush 5 slidable on the spindle but not rotatable thereon. A helical spring 13 between the bushes opposes the outward movement of the weights 7. A disc 8 with a conical edge is secured to the bush 5, and, when the motor is inoperative, engages a conical disc 12 on a spindle carrying a knob 11. Hand operation of the mechanism is then possible by rotation of the knob 11, but, when the motor is operative, the disc 8 is drawn out of engagement with the disc 12, and rotation of the knob 11 by the motor is avoided. A brake member on the end of a screw 9 rotatable by a knob 10 may engage the disc 8 to limit the motor speed. The discs 8, 12 may be of materials having high coefficients of friction ; one of them may be of metal and be flanged at its edge.
