Jan. 17, 1928, [Convention date] Centrifugal governors; differential governors.-For the purpose of automatically controlling the speed of a large electric motor 1 to synchronize with a small motor 2, a disc driven by the motor 1 carries a nut 6 into which screws a short shaft with a pinion 7 driven by relative movement of the two motor shafts, the inner end of the screwed shaft being fitted with an electric contact 8 forming part of a known kind of centrifugal electric speed regulator for the large motor. The motor 1, as shown, has a field-winding 3 with a regulating resistance 4 which is repeatedly switched in and out in the known manner. Modifications are described in which the screwed shaft acts upon a resistance slider used in conjunction with the centrifugal regulator.
