Abstract

461,314. Building - blocks. WARBURTON, H., and WRIGHT, W. A. Aug. 6, 1935, No. 22192. [Class 87 (i)] A non-refractory building-brick made for example of burnt clay, is formed with one or more interior spaces or passages extending parallel to the bedding face, the said spaces being filled with material to insulate heat or sound. In the brick shown in Fig. 1, the passage b extends longitudinally completely through the brick and is filled with insulating material c. Fig. 3, the longitudinal cavity d is open at one end only. In Fig. 4, a number of cavities or passages f are formed longitudinally of the brick. In all the modifications, the ends of the cavities or passages may be closed by cement plugs, such as e, Fig. 3. Magnesia, glass wool, slag wool, sawdust, cork, hair, felt, rubber, asbestos, diatomaceous earth, and metal foil are described as suitable filling materials.
