Abstract

461,284. Internal shoe brakes. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Aug. 20, 1935, No. 23357. Convention date, April 30. [Class 103 (i)] An internal shoe brake comprises an unanchored shoe 18 having a link 22 adapted to transmit thrust to a shoe 14 anchored on a fixed pivot 16. The normal rotation of the brake drum, in this case counter-clockwise, tends to swing the shoe 14 away from the drum and the link 22 counteracts this. Friction washers 26 are held tensioned by the rivetedover ends of the floating pivot 24 and allow the shoe 18 to adjust its position automatically. Modifications are shown in which shoe 18 is shorter and the link 22 is arranged at different angles and connected to the shoes in different position.
