Abstract

461,231. Typewriters. TOMBOLINI, A. July 11, 1935, No. 21022/36. Convention date, July 11, 1934. Divided out of 461,183. [Class 100 (iv)] Margin stops.-Two sets of stops, for determining the right and left margins, are mounted as letter-space intervals on the framework and are selectively projected by means of keyoperated slides mounted on the carriage. In the mechanism shown in Figs. 2, 6 and 9, two sets of stops 15, 15<1>, for determining the right and left margins respectively, are arranged at letter-space intervals and are mounted'to slide vertically in saw-toothed guide-slots 16 formed in strips 17 which are secured to a housing 18 on the framework. The stops in the sets 15, 151 are projected by means of slides 21, 21A which are mounted in the carriage and are arranged over a lever 26, also mounted in the carriage. A bail 31, co-operating with the lever and shoulders 30 on the slides 21A, is connected to a fork 32 co-operating with pins 33, 34 on rocking plates connected by links 37, 38, and levers to keys 39, 40. To project a selected stop in the set 15 or 15<1>, the carriage is moved into the position corresponding to the stop, and the key 40 or 39 is depressed. The projected stops are retained by co-operation of notches therein with spring-urged bars 41, 411. When any stop is projected, the bar 41 or 41<1> is retracted to release the previouslyprojected stop by means of arms 42A, 43 on rocking plates 19, 20 in the path of the slides 21, 21A. An erroneously-set stop can be released by partly depressing the key 39 or 40, or by manipulating the arm 42A or 43.
