Abstract

A foaming-agent for use in the production of air foam consists of a highly concentrated solution of a wetting-agent and an albumen degradation product in a mixture of water and a solvent which is miscible with water. The wetting agent may be a salt of an alkylated aromatic sulphonic acid, of a sulphonated fatty acid or alcohol, or of sulphonated resinous bodies, a sulphonic acid in which the sulpho-group is linked with a fatty or resinous residue in the manner of an ester, ether, amide, or amine by means of another organic group, or a body obtainable from fatty or resinous residues with polyglycerine or from any organic body of high molecular weight and several molecules of ethylene oxide. The albumen product may be one obtained during the acid or alkaline treatment of albuminous substances, for example, albumen hydrolysate. The water - miscible solvents may be alcohols of various kinds and valencies, such as methyl or ethyl alcohol, glycol, ethyl-polyglycol, or glycerine, or esters, such as ethyl acetate, may be used.
