Abstract
460,130. Transformers; insulation for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 2, 1936, No. 24062. Convention date, Sept. 4, 1935. [Classes 35 and 38 (ii)] Electric coils, particularly for liquid-immersed apparatus such as transformers and induction regulators, comprise a bundle of insulated conductors 2 bound together by a covering comprising superimposed layers of paper and a cellulose ester material. The covering may be applied in the form of wrappings of paper tape 3, 5 alternating with oppositely wound wrappings of cellulose acetate tape 4. Cellulose acetate may also be used as the insulation between individual conductors. The completed coil is treated to remove moisture and gas, and is specially applicable to slot-wound induction regulators immersed in oil or in a non- inflammable dielectric such as chlorinated diphenyl in combination with trichlorbenzene.
