Abstract
459,433. Brakes. CAPELIUSHNICOFF, M. A., 2, Malygina Street, and ZALKIN, S. L., 2, Magazinnaya Street, both in Baku, U.S.S.R. April 3, 1935, No. 10401. [Class 103 (i)] A distant pneumatic control for the drawworks drum of a well-drilling rig comprises a reservoir 19 from which air passes through pressure reducing valve 17, non-return valve 16 and reservoir 15 to act on piston 2, so tending to apply the drawworks brake 3; the air also passes to cylinder 14 to hold up a weight 12 which falls to apply the brake if excessive leakage occurs. To release the brake to any desired degree, air is admitted to the opposite side of the piston by a valve 18 of the kind giving a constant predetermined pressure for each position of the actuating lever. A valve 21, connected to apertured piston 22, may also be provided ; on slow operation of the valve 18 exhaust from the brake cylinder passes through the apertures in the piston 22 without moving the latter, while on quick operation of the valve 18, the piston 22 is depressed and moves valve 21 to open exhaust port c.
