Abstract

458,636. Delivering articles at house doors. CHALIFOUX, A., 3696, St.-Urbain Street, Montreal, Canada. Feb. 27, 1936, No. 5932. [Class 18] A locker into which articles can be delivered at house doors is provided with two openings 17, 18 of which one, the opening 18, has a door 18<a> normally spring-urged to the closed position, and an article placed on a platform 23 in the locker depresses the platform and prevents the door being opened. The opening 17 is closed by the house door so that the householder can obtain access to the contents of the locker when the house door is opened. The door 18<a> is in the shape of a semi-cylinder revoluble on pins 20 connecting the ends 19 of the door with the top and bottom of the locker, and springs 19A on the pins 20 urge the door to the closed position where an operating knob on the outer surface of the door abuts against one side of the opening 18. A sleeve 36 around the lower pin 20 helps to support the door. The platform 23 is hinged to the locker at 24 and is pressed upwards by a spring 25 against a stop 26, and the free end of the platform carries a member 27 which, when the platform is depressed by an article, engages against an edge of the lower end 19 of the closed door 18<a> and prevents the latter being opened. The locker is secured to the frame of the house door by interengaging hooks 31 and lugs 30 on the locker and house door frame respectively.
