Abstract

457,901. Gully covers and gratings. BROAD & CO., Ltd., 4, South Wharf, Paddington, London, and MAJOR, J., Oakland Road, Hanwell, Middlesex. Oct. 9, 1935, No. 27900. [Class 107] A gutter grating which is used in con junction with a kerb weir, comprises a three sided frame A of rect angular shape and a substantially flat gric 14 fitting into the frame with its whole area flush with the upper edge of the frame. The free ends of the side limbs 10, 12, of the frame lie on the kerb line and may, as shown, fit into vertical grooves in the limbs 18, 20, of the frame B of the kerb fitting. The frame B is somewhat similar in shape to the frame A and is fitted with a pivoted cover 22 carrying a transverse rod 26. The grid 14 is pivoted at 15 to the frame A and, when closed, rests on abutments 16, 17, so arranged that the first pin is relieved of the weight of the grid. The mating of the side limbs of the two frames permits of relative adjustment of the frames during installation, and the combined arrangement of the frames and their fittings is such as to provide an uninterrupted aperture when the cover and grid are in the open position shown in Fig. 1. In a modification, the grid is of the form described in Specification 435,872. Specification 300,783, [Class 107], is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
