Abstract
457,140. Yarns and threads ; wadding. PASTOR, C. T., Krefeld-Traar, Germany. May 23, 1935, No. 15098. Convention date, May 23, 1934. [Classes 120 (iii) and 142 (iv)] Threads or bands of textile material are provided with a continuous and uniform envelope of resilient material such as rubber or synthetic resin by drawing them through a nozzle fed with the coating preparation in liquid form, the coating being subsequently vulcanized or hardened. To curl the coated threads they may be subsequently treated with solvents which cause the core to swell without attacking the envelope and then hardening or stabilizing the core in this condition. Alternatively the core may previously be impregnated with material which will produce the desired swelling after subsequent treatment. As an example a cellulose acetate thread is coated with rubber and caused to swell by treatment with methylene chloride and alcohol or with acetone and hardened by treatment with steam or hot air. The threads &c. may be wound into a tubular structure on removable rods and.the structure then filled with similar or other fibrous material for use as wadding in upholstery. Specification 436,674 is referred to.
