Description
Artificial horsehair is known to be unsuitable per se for upholstery purposes Materials such as hay, straw, leaves, by treating them with rubber latex with a the tubular rubber casing completely enclosing the individual particles to surround. In this known method, the loosened mass is immersed or dusting treated with rubber latex. Another popular suggestion goes to cellulose fibers or other materials unsuitable for upholstery purposes after impregnation with synthetic resins or keratin by treatment with rubber latex to be provided with a tubular rubber coating. These known species however, treatment with rubber latex does not result in one for upholstery purposes really suitable material or a product similar to natural horsehair. Rather, what is obtained is a coherent mass that is glued in on itself and its elasticity property is far too low to be equal to the usual upholstery materials.
By the treatment according to the invention it is now possible from such fibers unsuitable per se for upholstery purposes, e.g. B. textile fibers, to one good upholstery material. The invention is based on the known methods for the production of upholstery materials, which in themselves are used for upholstery purposes Unsuitable materials due to treatment with a liquid preparation of an im dry state of elastic material, preferably with aqueous rubber dispersions, with a tubular sleeve made of elastic that completely encloses the individual fibers Material, preferably rubber, are surrounded. Come as wrapping materials in addition to the aqueous rubber dispersions already mentioned, for. B. also solutions from Raw rubber in organic solvents into consideration, which, like those, in the usual way for impregnation purposes z. B. also with fillers and dyes, Vulcanizing agents, vulcanization accelerators, anti-aging agents and the like. can be moved. On the other hand, however, z. B. also liquid preparations the various synthetic resins optionally mixed with plasticizers Varnishes or the like, which in the dry state are also mostly mine or less are elastic, have been shown to be useful.
The treatment according to the invention consists in that the thread, Tape or the like. Shaped fibrous materials, e.g. B. acetyl cellulose fibers, by exhaustion from a nozzle charged with the liquid coating material with the same completely be enveloped. In this way, any length of time, completely z. B. with rubber encased threads, tapes o. The like. Obtained, which then eventually after stripping any Superfluous coating material depending on the nature dried and if necessary can be vulcanized and hardened. An advantage of the thread, Band or the like. Brought into shape. . Fiber consists in that z. B. a pillow filling from artificial horsehair according to the: invention only two or no hair at all or 'fiber ends 1-. sits when the former are still glued together. Through this the disadvantage that was previously perceived as extremely unpleasant is avoided in a simple manner, that the tough, free ends of the upholstery material, z. B. by horsehair pierce the cushion cover and therefore require a special cover do.
It is also possible to use the upholstery threads produced according to the invention, Ribbons or the like, also in an endless strand in any desired one To transfer spatial form, z. B. in such a way that they are arranged in a grid-like manner in one plane and the structures thus obtained then as well as z. B. horsehair tissue is used.
Likewise, from the covered structures z. B. by intersecting Wrapping of rods and subsequent pulling off of these tubular structures Manufacture which, if necessary, after filling with the same or a different fiber material similar to the known padding strands can be used.
A further development * of the method according to the invention consists in to produce curly, artificial horsehair by cutting the fibers after the Pulling out of the nozzle and after stripping off any superfluous coating material by treatment with solvents which penetrate through the coating layer ability, brings to source and in this state, z. B. by quenching means Water vapor, makes permanent.
Verwendet 'man z. If you use z. B. Acety1cellulose as an insert material is sufficient it, for this purpose, after the elastic covering material has dried, the entire upholstery thread with one of the sheathing material, e.g. B. rubber, non-aggressive swelling agent, z. B. a mixture of methylene chloride and alcohol, to treat until the intercalated Acetyl cellulose has become elastic, but naturally not so long until it is the inlay material has completely dissolved. In this, intermediate state begins the insert material to expand and thus causes a puckering of the whole Upholstery thread. If .das entire structure then in this state z. B. by treating Quenched with steam or by immersing in an alcohol bath inner formations and thus the entire upholstery thread after the treatment liquid has evaporated its curled shape and results in the desired material.
Umhüllungswerkstoff festgelegt werden., # 'If insert structures are used that are not inherently swellable, so is according to the invention before the wrapping with the elastic material Inlay structure only with a swellable agent such. B. paint, synthetic resin or the like., soaked. Here, the swellable agent causes the desired crimp, which then also by quenching in this position together with the insert structure and the. Cladding material are specified.
