Abstract

Diazotizable azo dyestuffs are made by coupling in an alkaline medium tetrazotized 3 : 3<1>-diaminodiphenylurea or a homologue thereof on one side with 1 : 5 : 7- or 2 : 8 : 6-acid and on the other side with one of the said components or 2 : 5 : 7-acid. They are tetrazotizable on the fibre and can be developed, e.g. with b -naphthol or 1-methyl-2 : 4-diaminobenzene giving Bordeaux to brown shades fast to washing and which discharge well. In an example, tetrazotized m-m<1>-diaminodiphenylurea is coupled with 1 : 5 : 7-acid (2 mols.) or 2 : 8 : 6-acid (2 mols.) or with 1 : 5 : 7-acid (1 mol.) and 2 : 8 : 6-acid (1 mol.).
